Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) has proposed a scheme of developing houses for the economic weaker section (EWS) of the society in Kishwanwadi area in which total 2637 houses will be constructed for the slum residents.
The housing scheme plans to provide 30 sq. mt. size houses to slum dwellers and those who are staying in unauthorised settlements. It will be implemented under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) at Sanjaynagar in Warasiya.
According to the tender brought by the civic body, the realtors must develop a total of 1,841 houses in Sanjaynagar and 698 units in other parts of the city. For the rest of the houses, they have an option to pay premium to the civic body. However, the realtors can use the other part of the land for its commercial purposes.
Till now, a consortium of Narayan Realty Pvt Ltd and Sai Ruchi and DMC Infra Developers came up with the lowest bid to make an additional 98 houses of the project under Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode.
