Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) in association with Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has begun 10 residential projects to build 5,000 housing units for Economical Weaker Section (EWS) under its mission of Housing for All.
With these slum development projects under various public-private partnership (PPP) projects, there will be a total of 10,000 exclusive housing stocks for EWS category created soon. The plan is to use unused land and slum land by relocating its dwellers for the construction. In case of the unavailability of unused land, the city will use slum land with the cooperation of the residents. The final aim is to give roofs to the poor over their head.
The state government will also introduce an innovative Public Private Community Participation (PPCP) model under its Housing for All mission. The model enables the stake holders and community members to make sure the unhindered progress of the housing development with timely delivery, as said by the senior officer of BDA.
“We will move the file to general administration department for approval. After this, we will start our project with the cooperation of community people. It’s a part of our slum-free smart city mission,” says Anant Narayan Jena, Mayor, Bhubaneswar.
