Gujarat to Turn 3 Cities into Smart Cities with Rs 597 cr Fund

Taking a cue from the centre’s aggressive initiative of transforming many cities into smart cities, Gujarat government has announced in its budget that it has allocated Rs 597 crore for Ahmedabad, Surat and Vadodara.

The state government is looking forward to utilise these funds to improve infrastructure including metro project, building flyovers and strengthening road connectivity. The initial fund of Rs 60 crore is kept to take a subordinate loan for the Metro project in Ahmedabad. The Ahmedabad-Bagodara-Rajkot six-laning road project will have a budget of Rs 50 crore which is going to improve transportation service between Ahmedabad and Saurashtra and North Gujarat and Saurashtra.

Gujarat also allocated Rs 225 crore for advanced equipment including automated super sucker machines given to all municipal corporations and district headquarters making the health of all the cleaning workers at work. There will be four new shelter homes for orphans built one in each city Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat and Rajkot.
